The Story

Colina dos Piscos country house is set in a drainage basin enriched with abundant springs, which makes it a very peculiar place. The vibrant fauna and flora are a constant that soon gave the designation to the place, always associated to the “Pisco”, a small shy bird that quietly inhabits the surroundings and is easily recognized by the orange stain that adorns the chest and part of the forehead.

The history of the occupation, begins in the Antiquity. In the Middle Ages and up to the nineteenth century the region was explored by the Clergy, the Cistercians, which had a strong presence. With the Portuguese Liberal Revolution in 1820 and already in the thirties, the property was transformed into a Casal, like many other properties in the neighborhood, having received the name of “Casal Pisco”. In that period it was sold to an aristocratic family. At this stage and in parallel with the farm, the industrial exploration of pottery began, until the mid-twentieth century.

The house, associated with the romantic architecture of the time, was built by a doctor in love with the nature, around 1850. The factory that receives us with its majestic chimney, is an extensive and curious area, built of ceramic and wood. The “eira” and other agricultural construction reinforces the charm of the place by its uniqueness.

Colina dos Piscos is born like this .. with a new look over this territory, in the last years we started a process of rehabilitation, and the transformation of the house into a harmonious tourist accommodation, reframed with new accesses and garden. Another important intervetion was the creation of multiple water points, such as dams and lakes. The multiplicity of spaces and nooks, such as the old threshing floor on the lake, arts lounge space, the fig tree, meditation refuge and the whole pine forest, make this space magical and unforgettable, and only makes sense if shared.

THE HOUSE

Colina dos Piscos is located about one hour drive from Lisbon and a few minutes of Ourém.

The house has six comfortable rooms with modern design, which has not forgotten the preservation of history. All rooms have private bathroom, free WIFI, desk and TV. Some rooms offer a seating area, ideal for relaxing after a busy day.

The Breakfast is served in our Art lounge, glimpsing a magnificent view of the garden.

Relax by the fireplace and follow your children on a tour through the Vineyards and have fun on our lake.

Parking is complimentary and free.

EVENTS

We are hosting corporate and social events . We work with teams expertized in organizing events, with companies and private clients, personalizing the services provided, according to your expectations and objectives, always with a common goal: the originality of the event, without worries.

Larger scale events are held in a tent by the lake and smaller events have a room next to the house overlooking the garden and charming lake.
